King Diamond - Abigail since there were two KD songs featured in Clerks II, I have been on a kick since seeing the movie.

Mercyful Fate: The Beginning

Hammers of Misfortune - The Bastard

Lord Weird Slough Feg - Traveller: Mark, if you have not heard this CD, you must check it out. They are from San Fran and have an awesome Maiden-like sound. Traveller is a concept album and is one of the best.

Fred-King Diamond songs in the Clerks movie? I am surprised. I have heard of Slough Feg, but never heard them. I may have to check them out.

Ben-I can't ever resist Maiden.

David-Is that Abdullah the stoner band from Ohio? I have never heard them, but have heard of them.

Metal Mark: One and the same. It's a sludgy proto-Sabbath sound. Not as creative as Kyuss, but not bad. I think you'd like it in small doses.

Bruce-I have never heard Lacuna Coil because I am a musical dinosaur I guess.

Fuzz-I have not heard VOA in forever, I might have to track down a copy some time soon.

Dave-I have heard good things about Abdullah. I like a lot of stoner rock, but never got into Kyuss.

Steve-Fly on the wall is a little underrated I think. It's not great, but it has some good songs.

There is a scene in Clerks II when Randell is messing with the religious kid. He breaks into Welcome Home and is joined in by Jay and Silent Bob. They also play the song Welcome Home and The Invisible Guest during parts of the movie.

How do you like that Fu Manchu?

You should really check out Traveller. It is one of my favorite metal records. You have to hear the whole thing to appreciate it. It's a sci-fi concept album. Its short, sweet and the songs are all memorable. Great hooks and fun. They are what I call, "non-wimpy" power metal, lol.

I like Start the machine, but it's not up to par with say California Crossing or King of the road.

Hi Mark:
I do a fledgling '80s metal blog called metal-mixtape at http://metal-mixtape.blogspot.com/

I'm running a contest where I've posted a mystery picture of an '8os rocker and the first person to write in identifying that person gets an autographed copy of Judas Priest's latest DVD.

The contest runs through the end of July, so I was wondering if you would mention it in your next blog post. Please let me know if you can accomodate my request.

I'm at union.enterprises@yahoo.com.

Thanks,
Theo

P.S. I've added Heavy Metal Time Machine to my links list.

I had the same impression of Start the Machine. I was so hyped for it but when I finally heard it, I was a bit disappointed.

I have to see this band live someday though. I have seen some footage of them on You Tube and they kick ass.

Fred-I heard their live album was supposed to be really good. I have a friend who saw them and liked them a lot. Hopefully the new album will be more energetic.
